> ADHD, if diagnosed, is one neuropsychiatric condition with one of the best statistical and clinical evidence for positive treatment outcomes following the use of prescribed medication.

I’m curious what you think about the popular pushback against adderall? The number of prescriptions seem to have dramatically increased and it seems that a lot of people are concerned that it’s been over-prescribed.

I'm aware of the pushback and attempt to downregulate the availability of Adderall, especially in the US. But in Nigeria, where I'm based, the situation and reality is quite different. Awareness and utility of mental health services is still quite far from popular. Diagnosis of most mental health condition is not yet optimal let alone becoming superfluous.

I know that most psychiatrists in Nigeria are usually reluctant to prescribe medication for ADHD even after clinical evidence suggesting the person has ADHD. And many parents, even after being told their adhd-diagnosed child would benefit from meds are sometimes very hesitant about agreeing to it.

So, to my knowledge, what's happening in the US with respect to concerns about the bastardization of the ADHD drug is far from universal and would need to be properly contextualize. High public awareness and knowledge of both the medical and nonmedical use of stimulants such as Adderall may therefore partly account for what has been perceived as overprescription in the united states. And I think it's right that it's right that it's generating serious discussion. It has been said that the epidemic of opiate addiction in the US is partly as a result of its cavalier use by the medical establishment. Perhaps a similar trend in medical stimulants may result if care is not taken.
